This is an absolutely delightful book for readers of all ages, but especially for little ones. If you are looking for a way to introduce your littles to a love of language and words, this is a wonderful place to start. Each poem in this beautiful book both models and explains a different literary device. For example, the poem on alliteration not only employs use of alliteration in the poem, but the poem explains what alliteration is, too! This book calls itself a playground of words, and there is no more fitting description. Covering alliteration, symbolism, metaphors, personification, hyperbole, and much more, each poem is accompanied by a light-colored sketch that is sure to delight readers and hold their imagination as they learn. This is an excellent resource, an excellent collection of poetry, and an excellent educational title overall. 40 pgs, hc.
