All Aboard is the first student book in the Kindergarten Sing, Spell, Read & Write program and focuses on sound/letter recognition for each of the 26 letters of the alphabet. Recently back in print, this spiral-bound Workbook focuses on phonemic awareness, beginning sounds, and handwriting practice. The inside pages feel “slick” and have a shiny sheen to them. The illustrations are a mix of black and white and color. Worth mentioning, some of the text (primarily the directions to the parent), are fuzzy, but legible. Activities are varied and include coloring, drawing, matching, and letter formation, as well as cut-and-paste. Paper gameboard and pieces to cut out are provided for a phonics matching game. No teacher book is needed with this workbook as all activity instructions are included.
Please note: this version
is based on the 2004 edition of the Sing, Spell, Read, and Write program. We
previously carried the 1998 Homeschool edition. This edition covers the same
skills, sequence, and vocabulary but there are different illustrations. In
general, the illustrations are more boldly colored and are slightly more
realistic. They are also broader in terms of cultural representations – i.e. urban scenes versus farm scenes with more ethnic diversity. There
are references to the SSRW songs but there is currently no professionally done
audio available for sale. There are, however, YouTube® versions available.
