Description

Wanting to add some fun reading to a history curriculum? Do you have a WW1 enthusiast? This compact book provides detailed information, an overview of the Great War, loads of factoids, and cartoon illustrations. This little book covers the fighting and war tactics from all areas of battle: air, sea, land, foot soldiers, submarines, trench warfare, as well as the countries involved (voluntarily and involuntary). The meat of the text is broken up by the inclusion of all the factoids about specific tanks, airplanes, animals, people, diseases, and statistics. Included in the back of the text are resources like a timeline of the war, a glossary, an index, and footnotes given throughout the book. Additional sections include “like a soldier", popular songs, a famous soldiers list, and a few recipes. As this is a book all about the Great War, the topic and discussion of death and how soldiers were dying is brought up and detailed. It may, therefore, be more suitable for older children. Measurements throughout the text are given in the metric system. 189 pgs, hc. ~ Rebecca
