If you are looking for a 30-minute card game to add to your
rotation when you have a group of 3-6 players, take a look at Burst
from Lost Boy Entertainment. The game consists of a deck of 90 cards numbered
-3 to 15, which are shuffled and placed in the center of the table. Each turn,
players may choose to either draw a card to add to their hand or play a card
forming a line to the right of the deck. A player may hold a maximum of three
cards in their hand, and if they do, they cannot draw another until they have
played at least one card. Each time a player adds a card to the line of cards
on the table, they add up the running number total and announce it. If their
card play brings the total to over 21, they BURST! Bursting ends the round for
everyone with the player who burst receiving no points that round. A
scorekeeper records points for all cards left in all other players’ hands, the
deck is shuffled, and a new round begins. Play continues until someone scores
100 points to win the game!
This lively gem of a party game comes in a sturdy magnetic
box, has simple instructions, plays in 30 minutes, and will perk up an
otherwise uneventful gathering.
