Description

Passion is the first of three Sagrada expansions in “The Great Façade” series, which was published in 2019.  The theme is artistic freedom and the different emotions that artists might feel as they discover dynamic new methods and experiences in their creations. Included modules and components are:

Inspiration Module: 6 Inspiration Cards—Each player receives one of these cards, which gives them a unique benefit action. Some of these are used once per game and others only once per round. Two examples: 1) At the beginning of the game, lose 1 Favor Token; going forward, once per round, using a tool card only costs you one favor token. Another is 2) After drafting, place the die on this card if it is empty. At the end of a future round, you may place this die in your window.

Rare Glass Module: 6 Rare Glass Dice, 6 Rare Glass Boards, Rare Glass Private Objectives—The glass dice are “wild”, as they have no color restrictions. Each player will be allowed to use one per game and the conditions under which they are obtained and how they may be placed in player’s windows are controlled by the Rare Glass Boards. Although the color is “wild”, the numerical value placement restrictions apply. The private objectives in this expansion are substituted for the ones included in the core game when using the Rare Glass Module, as most of them directly refer to the glass die being part of a player’s window display.

Symmetry Public Objectives—These cards can be mixed in with other public objectives, but there are a few that should not be used with core game cards that directly contradict base game objectives. For example, when one of the Symmetry Objectives is to create pairs of the same number value mirrored across the center column, but a core game goal is to create rows of different number values.

The modules and card goal additions provided by this expansion are easy to integrate into the core game without significantly adding rule revisions and provide a little extra variety to the game. For 2-4 players with the base game of Sagrada required and a 30–45-minute play time. - Marsha

Category Description for Sagrada Game

Sagrada is based on the Sagrada Família Basilica in Barcelona, which has beautiful, breathtaking spires and iconic stained-glass windows and is famous for its three grand facades, which are all unique and have symbolic meanings.

The base Sagrada game and its expansions use dice drafting and placement to determine the options available to players during their turns. Strategy and planning revolve around using the available dice in combinations of their colors and numbers together with the unique stained glass windowpane options. There are placement rules that apply to every player and special tools to help players navigate difficult dice rolls. The goal is to meet public and individual challenges to earn the most points and win the game.

There are three expansions based on the grand façades of the Basilica that represent its origins in Barcelona. They are Passion, Life, and Glory, which add new facets, challenges, and rewards to the game. Also available is an expansion that extends the game to include up to 6 players, provides new objectives, and adds the option of personal dice drafting.

The base Sagrada game includes solo rules that can be applied to the expansions but might not work as well with all modules. The Sagrada base game is required to play any of the available expansions, which are added separately or in combination with each other using different modules to add variety to gameplay and scoring options.

Finally, if you enjoy campaign games, the Sagrada Artisans game gives players a story to experience as they embark on a multi-chaptered adventure competing as rival families and documenting the creation of cathedral windows over generations of time. This is a legacy style stand-alone game for 2-4 players and is played over multiple game sessions.
