Write to Read and Spell to Read Teacher Manual
This essential component to the phonics instruction is color coordinated and provides a brief but thorough guide to teaching one or more students. Teaching notes and reduced student pages, green for Write to Read and yellow for Spell to Read, provides streamlined assistance and guidance. Instructions on when to make flashcards, when to play games, and what to instruct in given for each lesson. Lessons are isolated into one lesson on each page. You may find that your students will accomplish more than one page during their phonics instruction. Word lists are provided in the beginning lessons for the teacher with the encouragement to start creating your own word lists. Creating word lists from the beginning will be helpful when these word lists are no longer provided in later lessons. No components of this program are reproducible. 88 pgs, pb. ~Rebecca
A no frills, Amish phonics program presented in three books. This Study Time publication provides thorough and quick phonics instruction. With endearing farmyard critters and wholesome reading examples, your young students will be encoding and decoding words in no time. Utilizing the explicit phonics approach, similar to the Riggs Institute methodology, students from the very beginning will be learning graphemes with a Numbered Letter Sound. This Numbered Letter Sound chart is in the back of the 3 main books of the program (046742, 046622, 046739). Students and teachers alike will be identifying and learning this ‘secret code’ to reading, writing, and spelling. Taught in a way where every numbered rule will stay the same across every vowel sound. This is a self-paced phonics program and lessons may need to be adjusted per your students’ capabilities and retention. Each page is a self-contained lesson which helps set pacing options for this program.
The Teachers’ Manual provides all the instructional materials for the program. Color coordinated between green for the Write to Read workbook and yellow for the Spell to Read workbook. There are teaching tips, word examples, activities and game options, integration suggestions with other programs, and instructions on making your own flashcards. There are no tests or quizzes and answers are provided on the reduced student pages. You will stay 10 pages ahead in the Write to Read workbook and utilize the Spell to Read workbook as additional practice. For example, once you get to page 11 in Write to Read you will start on page 1 in Spell to Read and go from there. Spell to Read should always be review material, not new material.
The two student workbooks are consumable and non-reproducible. They are in color, which brings life to all the barnyard friends. You are utilizing colors and numbers in the instructional format of the program. Students should know their colors and numbers to use this phonics course. Because of this, there are 2 optional, or beforehand, workbooks that can be used to help students learn and recognize their colors and numbers.
