Tidy and tactile, this set hits many more senses than just pencil and paper. The light-up tray takes 2 AAA batteries. Pour the red sand into the tray and use the triangular stylus to practice drawing letters. You have 18 double-sided cards with letters and numbers that fit upright on the edge of the tray for reference. Numbers and arrows on each card direct the student to make the letter strokes. You could practice following the lines with fingers first! Put a lid on it and set aside when done. Will they play in it? Sure! Will they spill some sand? Likely. Is it worth it to have your child enjoy handwriting? Um, YES! The tray is about 5”x8” and a half inch deep. I like how it stores away so nicely! ~Sara
