Be a bug or be a slug in this 2-6 player race where knowing the most about these critters helps you win! In this learning game for the younger folk, each player chooses to be either a spider, bee, ladybug, beetle, ant, or a slug in a race around the board. Starting with the first player, each player rolls the die to see how many spaces to move on the board.
If you roll a 6, stay right where you are. Otherwise, move forward as many spaces as the die number. If you land on a question space, the player on your left draws a question card. For example, “What country is known as the land of butterflies?” The answers are (A) Mexico, (B) Peru, or (C) Brazil. If you guess correctly, roll again. If you get the answer wrong, stay where you are until the next turn. By the way, the answer to that question is Peru – where there are more than 3,700 species of butterfly! So even though you did not move ahead, you may have learned something new about butterflies!
Sometimes, you might land on an activity space. If this happens, take an activity card and do exactly what it says. These cards might present a challenge for everyone playing the game that rewards the winner. Or it might ask you to act out an impression of a creature while others guess what that creature is. If someone guesses correctly, you are both rewarded.
The first player to travel around the board to the finish line wins the game! Bugs ‘N Slugs introduces some beginner-level dice-rolling, marker-movement competition while providing a learning experience about critters and giving kids a steppingstone to games that build on these basic board game experiences. Depending on the player account, the estimated game time is 20-30 minutes.
