Survival of your wolf packs and the domination of regional areas where they roam are key to winning this area-control, survival strategy game. The game begins with a setup of the main terrain board. Its size is determined by player count, with more regions added as the number of players increases. Next, players set up their personal boards and take turns placing their first two wolf packs in different regions of the main board.
The goal of the game is to score the most victory points by fighting for control of regions, hunting prey, and increasing the strength of your pack. These goals can be achieved through actions during each turn. Generally, these actions are to build dens, upgrade them into lairs, convert opponents’ lone wolves into your own pack wolves, dominate opponents’ pack wolves or dens, and hunt prey.
There are three scoring phases, during which different regions of the terrain board are scored based on a player’s control of that region. When all three scoring phases are completed, the game ends and final scoring is completed based on progress gained by each player’s pack during the game. Points are earned based on how many dens and lairs are established and how many wolves are on the region board, as well as success with hunting different prey during the game, and the player with the most points wins!
From their hauntingly beautiful howls to their extreme loyalty to their mates and pack, wolves are magnificent animals. This game plays with a simulation that parallels their habits and traits and affords gamers a unique area control, strategic wilderness experience. For 2-5 players with 60–75-minute playtime. - Marsha
