This unique grammar companion teaches four main methods for effective writing: investigation, imitation, combining, and expansion. Besides reviewing fundamental grammar concepts used in writing, this worktext teaches sentence construction through chunking and sentence combining. Each chapter teaches one skill then offers a chance to put it into practice, with answers at the end of each chapter.
Although this is graded for ages 9-12, it may be more appropriate for the advanced grammar student or aspiring writer who needs more challenge. There is nothing childish about the lessons or the activities so this text would be helpful to older students as well.
Note: This resource has many written exercises within the text—but there is not much space to write answers and lines are closely spaced together. Some students may find it easier to do the exercises on a separate piece of paper.
