Description

This 6-player edition of this dice-rolling game makes for even more fun! Roll your die, then flip your number tiles so they add up to the number rolled. For example, if you roll a 4 and 3, you could flip down a 7, a 4 and 3, or even a 6 and 1—whatever combo you want to make 7. Play continues, and once you can’t flip any tiles down, you’re out. Once all players are out, the player with the lowest score wins. If you flip all your tiles, you’ve “shut the box”! Alternatively, you could use multiplication and division to create the number—for example, flipping down 2 and 3 to make 6 (2x3 = 6) or 8 and 2 to make 4 (8 divided by 2 is 4). This game would be an excellent option for practicing math skills while having a blast!

Category Description for Shut the Box Game
Though the origin of Shut the Box is unknown, variations of it are played worldwide. The wooden board has a felt-covered surface and the basic version contains 4 sides of number tiles. At the start, all tiles 1 through 10 are flipped up. The goal is to flip all the tiles down. To do so, a player must roll two die, then total the dice and either flip down a single matching number tile or divide the dice to flip two number tiles. Play continues until no more tiles can be flipped. Add the remaining flipped-up tiles to determine your score, and the lowest score wins. The basic 4-player game includes 4 pairs of dice.
