a Nature Study or Unit Study can seem out of your wheelhouse, but being
equipped can make this option of science study easier to facilitate and
manageable. By using Nature School (026978) as a spine resource
alongside skill appropriate notebook companions, your exploration and
observation of nature is provided structure and guidance. There are two
notebooking options, one for young students (K-3) and one for older elementary
students (3-8). The Science Through Nature Notebook Companions provide student
work for the beautifully illustrated Nature School guidebook like questions,
sketching, and coloring. Intended to be self-paced through 5 of the major
biomes, the guide utilizes hands-on activities, experiments, and practical ways
to use the knowledge kids are naturally acquiring. This is not a program that
needs to be used cover to cover, it can be interest-led, unit study focused, or
based on students’ abilities. For those who need the structure of a scope and
sequence there is a Lesson Plan sample to follow. The guidebook on its own is a
wonderful resource and adds simple activities at the end of each unit. For
those who are looking for a fuller and put together nature study, adding the
appropriate notebook alongside your readings in Nature School will make
