Description

This is a very helpful parent/teacher guide that is best used by someone familiar with Spanish pronunciation*. You will have a lot of activities to choose from to use with a group of students. Reduced student pages are convenient. Lessons are presented in a way that will be very apparent to a classroom teacher, but perhaps a bit much for the homeschool parent.

*You will see references to DTS, the Digital Teaching Slides. These are sold separately on the Abeka website. They include 10 songs, Spanish flashcards, audio pronunciation by native speakers, and images to enhance your lessons in a classroom setting. There is no audio provided by the books themselves. ~ Sara

Category Description for Abeka Elementary Spanish

Elementary - Activities introduce students to simple vocabulary through colorful pages. Students learn the words for family members, colors, animals, numbers, shapes and more. I noticed there is no pronunciation guidance with the Spanish words, though the English word is also shown. Kids will love the hands-on projects, like animal masks to cut out when learning vocabulary words such as elephant, hippo, and penguin. Handwriting is very minimal, as there is more circling, connecting lines, cut and paste, and coloring at this age group. A certificate of completion rounds out the course! Not reproducible. Consumable with perforated pages.

Necessary components include a Student Text, Parent Edition, Teaching Charts, and Vocabulary Cards.
