Breaking the Spanish Barrier Level 1A: Vamos! is an engaging and colorful student worktext. With your purchase, you will receive online access to pronunciation guidance, cultural videos, grammar exercises, and digital flashcards. With all this at their fingertips, your student can (often) work independently on their Spanish instruction four days a week!

The book is consumable and not reproducible, so be sure all students have their own book. QR codes are used to take a student to pronunciation help using a smartphone. This is a handy feature when a computer is not available!

Full-color maps introduce the lesson and teach you some current details about that region. Read about famous people and beautiful places! Vocabulary is introduced, along with verbs and other words that will help you build your Spanish skills. Use the digital flashcards on your online access for practice. Parents can get involved here and quiz their student’s knowledge using the flashcards, then check their pronunciation right there online! This introductory level with its combined print book and online components serves as core curriculum. Designed for total beginners who are ready to immerse themselves into the beautiful language of Spanish, ¡Vamos! Beginner "A" presents essential vocabulary, key grammar, and important cultural information from many Spanish-speaking countries. It is ideal for students in middle school as well as for older students who would prefer a more deliberate pace.

The STEPS Section:

Students begin their journey with the engaging “STEPS Section,” ten essential building blocks (greetings, family, telling time, numbers, weather, days of the week, home and school vocabulary, etc.) that help students begin speaking immediately. Students build confidence from day one!

After the STEPS section, students work through chapters that are thematically organized. Each chapter features a region of the Spanish-speaking world. 

Each chapter includes:

The original Breaking the Spanish Barrier Level 1 (Beginner) has been reorganized and expanded for students who prefer a more deliberate, comfortable pace with more review along the way. Lessons begin with cultural content highlighting a Spanish-speaking part of the world. Your learner is instantly engaged!

Students will use their own Student Edition workbook and Online Access for every lesson, and a parent will want the Answer Key. The course can be done independently using the 4-day lesson planning guide in the Homeschool Package.

1A: Vamos! begins with greetings and other commonly used words. You then learn the present tense, past tense (preterit), and move onto pronouns/adjectives, ser/estar, and prepositions/conjunctions, all with frequent review.

Components:

  • Student Edition with Online Access is now a full-color consumable workbook. Each student needs their own. This book automatically comes with your 12 months of online access. Also new are useful QR codes for a student to access pronunciation help from anywhere!
  • Online Access includes 12 months of cultural videos, grammar exercises, and interactive vocabulary flashcards. This code is renewable 30 days from the end of your access for a reasonable fee.
  • Answer Key shows reduced student edition pages (4/pg) with answers filled in. Looseleaf.
  • Teacher Edition with Online Access is a full-size student edition with answers filled in. It is much easier to see when you are actively teaching a lesson. This is only available with 12 months of online access.
  • Test Program includes all new consumable tests and quizzes just for this edition!
