This worktext is Part Two of the Writing Lessons series (revised by My Father’s World) and is written directly to the student with short exercises and application. Besides the instruction, each lesson also includes learning objectives, hints, and simple blackline drawings to go along with the lesson. Pages include plenty of wide-spaced lines to write compositions.
The curriculum has 15 units and is designed for the student to complete two lessons a week for a year’s worth of lessons. Each unit has one to four lessons and is followed by a Progress Report page for students to share a personal reflection on their work. Students are asked to share what is the best sentence they wrote and why for that specific unit.
Topics include organization, narrative voice, changing tenses, paragraphs, and descriptions. Supplementary material at the front of the book includes teaching tips, a progress chart, guidelines for editing, a page for listing problem areas, a page for writing frequently misspelled words, and writing guidelines. Helpful writing terms are defined in the back for reference and additional clarification. The curriculum is designed for the student to complete two lessons a week for a full year of lessons. Consumable and non-reproducible. Softcover, 132 pages. ~Tara
