Spectrum
Science helps children in grades 3-8 improve their scientific literacy and
inquiry skills. Each grade-level workbook contains lessons covering the
following topics: science as inquiry, physical science, life science, earth and
space science, science and technology, science in personal and social
perspectives, and the history and nature of science. Spectrum Science workbooks
make an excellent supplement to a primary science curriculum, perfect for both teachers
and homeschooling families.
Lesson
Format
Lessons
within each workbook include a one-page essay or article to read followed by a
page of exercise questions. These focus on vocabulary, comprehension, and
recall. The questions come in a mix of formats: multiple-choice, short-answer,
matching, true/false, and long answer. An article sidebar lists vocabulary
words, provides related quotes, and supplies short autobiographical information
on the people mentioned in the articles. Some lessons include optional
extension activities, such as researching a topic further or doing a hands-on
activity related to the lesson.
Assessment
and Review
Every
Spectrum Science workbook contains end-of chapter reviews, multi-chapter tests,
and final tests. Answer keys are provided for each book, complete with
perforated pages for easy removal.
