Publisher's Description of CompuScholar: Tech Essentials 1-Year Subscription

The CompuScholar "Tech Essentials" course is a great starting point for middle-school students to learn basic computer skills. Prepare your students to use the computing tools they'll need for success in other school subjects and throughout their daily lives.

Topics include file management, word processors, spreadsheets, presentation programs, creating images, sounds, and videos, doing online research, introductory coding concepts, digital citizenship, and online safety.  You can view the Course Syllabus for additional details and pacing for this one-semester class.

This course is packaged as a turn-key, self-study program that requires no teacher expertise.  The online format features fully integrated instructional videos and lesson text for the students.  The videos introduce the main lesson concepts, and the matching lesson text is required reading to understand the full details of each topic.  Each chapter has hands-on activities to practice and demonstrate skills.

No local software installation is required - all course material is delivered through a web browser.  Students will be taught to use 3rd party packages such as the free Google Suite (online) or Microsoft Office (with your existing license).  Teachers and students can choose the software packages that best fit their classrooms.

All lesson quizzes and chapter tests are auto-graded by our system. Students will complete hands-on projects in every chapter, and these projects are a mixture of teacher(parent)-graded and auto-graded, depending on the chapter and topic.  Full teacher guides, activity solution guides, and answer keys are provided for the teacher.

Teachers and students can both take advantage of fast, free technical support available directly from CompuScholar.  You will receive self-registration codes to create your student and teacher accounts.  Your online access is a one-year subscription that starts when you use those codes to create your accounts (not when you make the purchase).  Once registered, you can add sibling accounts from within the course Teacher Menu for a nominal fee.

System requirements: Windows OS, Mac OS, Chromebook, IOS or Android Tablets. Browers: Edge 42+, Firefox 58+, Safari 11+, Chrome 64+. Any standard internet connection.
