Description

This book, along with the online portion and answer key, is essential to this course. Before you jump into lesson 1, this course has a section called the 10 Steps. The purpose is for the student to get comfortable with the look and sounds of this new language. If you have had some previous exposure, it may take you 1-2 weeks. If you are new to the language, the 10 Steps can take as long as you need to get comfortable. You are not writing anything at this time, so relax and soak it in. When you do begin lesson 1, you will notice that the expectation is for you to really dig into the language. Still, Level 1 is for a beginner. Take your time, use the video lessons as a model, and you will find yourself progressing as things click. Don’t be scared of the vocabulary and grammar presented off the bat, this is a normal, high school level course. Handy verb charts in the back are a quick reference, and dictionary pages that are both Spanish to English and English to Spanish will get lots of use. ~Sara

In addition to vocabulary, students will learn to use the present tense, preterit, and imperfect verb tenses.

New for 2024 is Breaking the Spanish Barrier 1A Vamos! and 1B En Camino. Completing both levels will place a student in Level 2 (Intermediate). Each course is one full year and includes more practice and review than the full Level 1. This is an ideal option for a student in middle or high school who prefers more time with a concept before moving on.

Level 2 (Intermediate) starts with a good review of Level 1 content before moving forward. See the Level 2 description for details.

Level 3 (Advanced) reviews the first two years, adding more advanced grammar concepts. See the Level 3 description for details.
