Great program try it out..
I thought this was going to be a simple program that didn't offer much but as I started reading through the teachers manual and all the games and practice they have outline for each lesson, my respect and appreciation for program grew. My kids enjoy it. The concept games are fun and they are learning to spell and read at the same time. The lessons are short and hold the attention of my busy very activite boys. I couple this with the Ready, Set Read program by Vera Clark and the kids are getting a lot of practice developing their reading abilities!!

We are going back and working on making sure we have a solid understanding of the basics. We've made it 1/2 way through the first 4 books in the series (ETC 1-4) and are working with a tutor who recommended going back to the beginning to really hammer in the concepts for a firm understanding and for confidence building.

I expect these cards to reinforce learning from the book series.

Wanted to try something new. We've used Explode the Code before with our other children.

We chose this because we already have the Explode the Code Student Workbook and Teacher's Guide and realized that this would be a helpful tool to use with them.

I love reading and was an English major. I want my children to also love reading and to be able to read well. My husband was not a big reader in childhood and is paying the price now. It sounds like these cards will help reinforce the lessons, and as it is important to, at this young age, really get a good start at phonics and reading I thought I would see if they ar worth it.

We were able to successfully use the Explode the Code Primers A-C without cue cards for our first child, but our second was having trouble remembering the letter names and sounds without an added visual cue, and these cards will be a great fit for helping us move through the books and do review of letters he's previously learned.
