Description

Do you know who Harriet Jacobs was and what she is known for?  How about Marie Tharp or Hedy Lamarr?  What do these women have in common with the other 117 included as chapter cards in this game?  They were all chosen by a group of teacher advisors as part of a list of well known, iconic and sometimes underrepresented women in history to be included as chapters of books in the Her Story Game.

In playing this game, you take the role of an author who is writing a book to help tell the stories of eight different women from the total grouping of 120.  A finished book is eight chapters long and the first player to complete their book triggers the end of the game. Players earn points during the game when they claim a draft of a chapter and when completing a chapter.  Chapters are represented by cards that each contain the story of one woman along with an interesting anecdote about each.  Some of these cards also provide end-game points for meeting specific criteria. The player with the most points wins the game and reads one of their chapters to the other players, which helps everyone learn more about one of the women included in the winner’s book.

This is a light educational card drafting game for 2-5 players with a 30 to 60-minute game time.  There are notable women to learn about including engineers, entrepreneurs, actresses, and authors.   When not playing the game, the cards included in the game provide an opportunity to just read and learn about them and with a large picture of each on the face of the cards; it is easier to visualize them in life while performing extraordinary roles in history.
