Eventually, Vivien followed Dr. Blalock to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore where he served as a Surgical Technician in Research. There, Vivian began researching a cure for babies that were born with heart conditions as he tried to find a way to successfully perform open-heart surgery on infants.
