Practical Theory Complete: Self-Instructional Music Theory
A music theory book for the slightly older student. While this is not as simply presented as the Theory for Young Musicians, this book is also intended for beginners with little or no knowledge. The first lesson presents the staff; then it teaches notes, note values, time signatures, rests, flats, sharps, scales, and keys. Later you will learn such concepts as inversions, chords, harmony and melody, tones, and even composing. There are 84 lessons in all, which together offer a wonderfully complete course in music theory. Most, (if not all) of the lessons have exercises to complete, and every fourth lesson is a review of the previous three lessons. If you want your student to have a solid understanding of music theory, this book offers a more-than-adequate solution. ~ Melissa
A combination text and workbook in three volumes. All areas of music theory are covered in a concise and practical manner and each level contains 28 lessons.
