I am so thankful for such a wonderful non-consumable resource for spelling I use it with my 3rd grader who needs a lot of help with her spelling skills Most "programs" move too fast and leave her behind because of either lack of order or lack of review Natural Speller allows me to make her lessons myself and move at the pace she needs in order to "get it" It's also cost effective for us too since I can use it for ALL my children We can use a plain composition book or wide ruled notebook and we are good to go! The suggested activities are helpful in giving me ideas to build her skills and keep her lessons from becoming a chore (or boring) This is definitely not an open-and-go program but one that can be used and customized to suit your needs No lesson plans workbooks etc This is the only book you need from 1st-8th grade It is similar to but not as complicated to use as Spelling Power (or as expensive) I highly recommend this book for moms who don't mind writing their own plans and looking for something to use with all her children

Even though we just started using this book this year I absolutely love it It has everything you could need for a complete spelling program except the notebook your child will be writing in The spelling lists are grouped by grade level which makes it extremely easy to use How much teacher/parent preparation needed depends on the age of your children and how you choose to do it For younger kids you may want to write the list for them to copy and write down what activities they need to do For older kids you can just tell them which list and allow them to choose the activities they do I like to combine subjects whenever possible and the activities do just that While practicing spelling they're also practicing dictionary skills grammar skills writing and vocabulary My daughter (9 years old) used to get very bored with her spelling work but with 49 activities to choose from (not counting the activities for Greek & Latin roots) there is variety each week She has never liked anything we bought for spelling until this year I only wish I had found it years ago and saved myself the constant battle with my daughter I will also be using this with my son (3 years old) when he's old enough to start a spelling program It may seem a bit expensive at first glance but considering everything it covers and the fact that it has spelling lists for eight grades it is definitely worth the price I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good spelling program This is the best spelling book I've seen!

This is great in that you have just one book for grades k-8! And it's not bulky! I like the freedom in how you can use it like what exercises to give out to your children I've used Rod and Staff spelling and even though it's very thorough we thought there was so much to do that we weren't having a good time at all! And I think spelling should be fun! Well this is fun

With 7 kids to eventually homeschool I'm always on the lookout for quality programs I can use for all of them Natural Speller is easy to use at different levels Just choose lists from the grade level your child is at You can tailor make your lessons by choosing different activities such as putting words in alphabetical order dividing the words by syllables adding endings and prefixes defining the words using a dictionary just to name a few I love the fact that I don't have to buy more workbooks every year!

Great Fit!
Both my daughter and I like this program. (She's in 3rd grade). We've been using it for 2 weeks. I like the simplicity of it for the parent, the activity choices, and daily reinforcement. I also like that I'll be able to use this next year for my 6 year old, too, and use it for both for many years. My daughter likes taking the pre-test, putting the words in alphabetical order, and learning the prefixes and suffixes.

i like that it has several grades, as i am teaching more then one grade, and I will only need one book. It appears to be detailed and exactly what I am looking for.
