Description

In this interesting book by a well-known author, the characters are all students at a small private school surrounded by woods that the children are not allowed to enter. After two boys have a conflict and one tries to avoid the other, Tamaya (the main character) and the boy she walks to school with find themselves in the woods and still run into the troublemaker boy. A fight ensues, and Tamaya inadvertently exposes one of the boys (and herself) to a strange looking puddle of mud. When a strange rash breaks out and gets worse and worse, she realizes she must find the troublemaker and make sure he is alright. She puts her own safety on the line to find him and consistently challenges herself to do the right thing despite what others or the “popular kids” might think. She has values that are worth living out! ~Sara
