Great Resource! We've been using the Student Workbook for a month now and love it. I appreciate how we can go through the first side together and then later in the day he's familiar with the second time. This builds his confidence and shows him how much fun math can be! So far so good!Just started using Saxon this school year for my 1st grader. So far we really like it, it does seem to be a little below his level but he is loving it as math is his favorite subject and he is able to get them done super fast. I think further throughout the book he will see more of a challenge but so far we really like Saxon, that's what I used all through public school so it's very familiar for me! Saxon Math 1I bought Saxon Math 1 for my son who has learning difficulties. I love how this curriculum is an incremental approach, meaning you move st s very slow and steady pace and build on skills as you go. Each lesson has the same format, beginning with the meeting, hands on practice then the workbook. We have some small children might get bored with the repetition, my son has thrived. And because it moves at such a slow, steady pace, he is not overwhelmed and feels very successful. Was this review helpful? Yes (0) No (0)

Love itMy daughter was having a very hard time with math and hated doing any math. Saxon math has turned it completely around. The instructions are simple to follow and my daughter loves doing math. Saxon math is very interactive, not just worksheets. We won't be using anything else but Saxon Was this review helpful? Yes (0) No (0)

I did not buy the complete kit and that was a good thing because any person who is good at math can teach it using just the workbook for Saxon 1 It is thorough and there is a ton of practice involved in arithmetic and problem solving I know my dd will know her early math facts really really well Maybe too well because it does move slowly if your child finds math easy If not it's excellent As I stated before I'm really good at math and so is my dd so we will probably go with a program that moves a little faster next year but for a child who needs the practice and repetition it's great Was this review helpful? The repetition of Saxon is what I love Homeschooling is very flexible therefore you do not have to stick to the lesson plan exactly I go through the lessons for the next day and write down what we will do Many times we may go through 5 lessons a day I usually skip the meeting completely or just do maybe the counting clock etc We don't have to always do the projects in the lessons either I usually just go over the new concept without them I don't have to wait for the next school year to start the next grade we go at our own pace Was this review helpful? I like Saxon math I think it is one of the best programs out there though I found Math 1 to be quite repetitive and my 6 year old would often ask to skip lessons because it was so redundant All in all it is very easy to teach but if your child picks up math easily this particular program may not be for you As far as price it can't be beat Was this review helpful? Vastly intelligent approach.I have designed most of the homeschool approaches that we use, but since I have a weird method for mathematics, personally, it's hard for me to teach it. As you work though this method, it dawns on you how smart it is, and how there are people out there who've patiently thought through these things in a way that amounts to actual teaching. The fact that it spirals information in a constant reviewal is not a criticism. I don't care how smart your kid is with maththis method cements concepts in such a way that they become natural. The child will see math as a series of patterns and not some abstract pile of "figurings." I wish that it weren't so expensive. It seems a bit much that way, but I'd pay it again if I had to do it for such a breezy way to do math. Was this review helpful? Yes (0) No (0)

A good math curriculumI would recommend this curriculum. I will say that they do include a lot of problems/work for students that I just don't see how a 1st grader could sit through an entire lesson if you're doing everything that it suggests doing for that day. However, we skip a lot of things in the Meeting, I only have my daughter do about 1/4 of the "fact sheet" problems, and she only does 1 of the 2 worksheets. She is advancing just fine and is grasping the concepts with relative ease. I really like how it gives the teacher step by step instructions through the lessons, and it is a gradual approach. I considered Math U See for my kids, but Saxon is more straight forward and easier to teach in my opinion. Was this review helpful? Yes (0) No (0)

Great ProgramI recommend this program. I purchased these workbooks for my 4 year old who has been beyond ready to start learning math concepts. It is working really well for her. The only thing that is difficult about it is that some worksheets need extra explanation (I imagine I was supposed to purchase a teacher's manual with them?). Luckily, I have a kindergartener using the Saxon math program right now and I recognize the activities in the workbook that don't have explanations. Otherwise, you'd have no idea how to utilize those pages. Was this review helpful? Yes (0) No (0)

Saxon workbooksI like the simplicity of Saxon math for the student and teacher. I like that it continues to review concepts throughout the year so it is easy for the homeschool mom to notice what is mastered and what is not. I personally skip problems I know they have mastered. I don't believe in bust work. I wish that the workbooks were spiral bound as it is difficult to tear out the pages/worksheets. Was this review helpful? Yes (0) No (0)
