This beautifully-illustrated picture book is quite possibly one of the best examples of quality children's literature on the market The story set in the Appalachian Mountains follows a young girl named Minna and through her struggles emphasizes the theme that people matter more than possessions Although an average-length book the character development is phenomenal and very emotionally engaging Overall a superbly-written thought-provoking classic book that would be a blessing to any household I strongly recommend it as an addition to any home library

We love this book. I cried the first time I read it. It teaches children kindness and compassion. Just one of those I feel should be in our library always.
