Perfect (for the right child)
Most of my daughters are readers, and don't excel at math. For them, I get good solid math books with clear explanations and lots of practice. But I have one daughter who doesn't like to read, and who gets bored after three similar math problems. Beast Academy is perfect for a child like that. This book is fun to read, and there is nothing boring about the problem sets! I am using level 5 for my daughter in 7th grade. She is not gifted (which is who these books are written for). She is perfectly average. So two levels "behind schedule" is a good fit for her. She still needs to work pretty hard at it. But all complaints of boredom are quite gone this year in math.

Because it is in comic format and looks to be to grade standards.

We used Beast Academy 4 last year and my daughter loved it, so we are continuing on with it. My daughter is average, not gifted. She is going into 7th grade this year. Using this two years behind schedule is just right for her. She gets bored easily, and so the cartoon math guides and the wide array of problems that never repeat works well for her.

We've used level 3 and level 4. The levels do not correspond to regular school grades. Beast Academy teaches math in a math-y way. Non-mathy kids would not love Beast Academy.

Beast Academy is an amazing curriculum for teaching Mathematics. It is so engaging that my son reads the books on his time off of school! Using Beast Academy he not only caught up on his math skills, but became advanced for his grade!

Beast Academy gives my ds challenge like nothing else, with a fun presentation that he loves. As we complete a level in Singapore Primary Math, he begs for the next level of Beast before moving on. Develops deep thinking skills and extremely engaging!

Beast Academy is the best curriculum for elementary school math. Much better than alternatives (Singapore, MEP etc.)

We've used and loved BA3 & 4 already, and my oldest can't wait to move on to level 5. Beast Academy has met his desire for "hard math."

Is Beast Academy a secular curriculum?
A shopper on Aug 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, absolutely secular. We are Christians though, and have really enjoyed it. There is nothing that would be objectionable from a Christian standpoint in my opinion.
Is this appropriate for an independent learner? She did Saxon 4/5 on her own
Teri roy on Mar 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Mine have done Beast Academy independently. My oldest finished level 3 and is almost done with level 4. My youngest is in level 3 now. I check their work and help when they get stuck but they work through the guide and practice on their own. The answer key walks you through the steps to the solution which is great.
