Yay for Pearson for offering a Homeschool Bundle on this product! It came in an affordable bundle and even included a glossy insert which had encouragement and information on how to use the products as a homeschooler The book is well laid out with a little bit of color The book flows well Each chapter mostly focuses on related topics and there is a short Mixed Review built in each day then a chapter Review followed by the test Each day there are practice problems and the "Homework Set" includes practice as well as word problems and then a "Challenge" Problem Each Chapter also includes a whole page of "Word Problems" which really make the student thinkThere is a VIDEO for EVERY lesson in an easily accessible link online The video is useful but not so awesome that I would use them every day They are similar to Khan Academy in styleYou can skip some of the stuff like the "test taking strategies " and you can also skip the "Guided Problem Solving" sections unless your student needs it There are DK "Problem Solving Applications" which are full color applications of the math from real world modern occupations You could also skip those but my son likes that kind of thingThe material itself is not Fluffy Math that is full of confusion It builds upon itself step-by-step and it makes sense I looked up the main author and found that he is a renowned Math Professor at a University in Silicon Valley where mathematics is pretty important for Comp Sci I only assign even numbers plus the entire Mixed Review rather than the entire problem set because it's almost 50 problems if you do it all Not necessary However UNLIKE SAXON you CAN SKIP PROBLEMS because this is not an incremental program Each problem set is related to that day's and that chapter's material (aside from the Mixed Review of course)The ONLY complaint that I have is that the solutions come on the Teacher's Manual CD and I don't know where in that CD and I don't have disc drive (all of our computers are "in the cloud") and so I wish they had those in a protected link to download and print rather than on a physical CD (trust mephysical CD's won't exist in 5 or 6 years)One thing the Rainbow review doesn't mention is that the Course 3 and Algebra Readiness and Course 2 are interchangable The representative from Pearson said that Course 3 is HARDER than Algebra Readiness So the sequence can be:6th Course 17th Course 28th Course 3or 6th: Course 2 7th: Algebra Readiness8th: Course 3 or Algebra depending on student's readiness ability at the endReally I can't find anything wrong with this and I suspect it'll be a big player at some point
