Glad we swapped!
My family is enjoying this math curriculum over all others we have tried (Saxon, Life of Fred, math mammoth). It is simple but thorough and does not overwhelm. I use it in conjunction with games and day to day living type learning. I like the story line better because instead of being silly it teaches good lessons and models a Godly family. It requires students to narrate concepts as well which is exactly what I was going for. I highly recommend this curriculum.

Really nice book
This book has quite a few editing errors, but overall it's not a big deal, we figure out what is needed. It is great and I am glad I chose it for my third grader.

Great for short attentions
So far I am happy with the material that is covered. Also, there are only a few problems for students to practice which makes it great for my daughter who is slower on completing a problem. I also like the snippets of review. This book is geared for her ability, however, I am not sure how she will do on standardized test.

CLE math was too much busywork and bit too much review. Singapore math seemed to have not enough review for my son, this looks like the perfect amount of work, good review, living application, without being redundant.

This was recommended by several people to me as math that my child might enjoy and feel challenged in doing.

I chose this curriculum because I realized my children could fill in the blanks/answer math problems without knowing how to explain how they got their answer.

Level 2 of this series was my first experience with Math Lessons for a Living Education. We loved how the story flowed throughout the book and how the activities tied in with what the kids were learning. This is a great alternative to "traditional" math books, and it's especially helpful for students who struggle with learning and remembering math facts/processes. I imagine Level 3 will be just as wonderful!

I am only purchasing Charlotte Mason material this year. Smaller lessons, easy approach, it's what I believe I am looking for.

We have been using this curriculum for a couple years and are very happy with it! Real life stories are woven into the lessons, helping the kids understand why we need to learn math :)

I used level 2 last year with my granddaughter and she enjoyed the story line at the introduction of each concept . I liked that the lessons did not require much teacher prep and the number of practice problems were not overwhelming. It is gentle learning from a christian perspective.

My 4th grader has been struggling with math and decided to change math curriculum. After researching much, I think this curriculum will be a great fit for her.

This is a great math program for those who follow or incorporate a Charlotte Mason education into their homeschool. It's easy to follow and it keeps the kids attention with lots of variation In the math lesson being given.

We have used Master books for Science for years and used the older level last year for our daughter in math. The no frills approach brings it back to learning about math

I have not found a math curriculum that I am crazy about. This looks promising. I read an article saying this is better than Math U See and TT.

My youngest son is struggling with math. The reviews on this product indicate that it is a more hands on product and can be beneficial for the right brained child.

I have a son with learning delays and another who is bored easily. I think this will be a good fit for both! I like that it doesn't just give them a ton of problems to work through, but shows them how it will work in real life!

We are relaxed homeschoolers and are always looking for teaching materials that don't overdo it on the paperwork. We also look for materials that teach items in a way that we can apply it to life.
Renee D on Jul 22, 2016
I really liked the layout, ease, and clarity of book 2, and only had to supplement a bit. Therefore I had to buy 3, 4, 5! Let's hope we love them all the same! :)

Is this considered religious curriculum?
A shopper on Aug 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, not really. :) But it does not shy away from the bible, so I guess for a math book, it does refer to God more often than any other math book. :) There's a story weaved into the math lessons--it's of a family who fly to Peru to build a clinic as part of a missions trip. Each chapter is introduced by way of a two-page story; after which are the math exercises and lessons. In one chapter, the family prayed before sleeping; in another chapter, the children looked at the landscape and thought that it was a beautiful display of God's glory; there's a reference to how God used multiplication in creating the world; a reference to how Jesus loved children (because eventually the family decides to adopt two Peruvian children), etc. But mostly the story revolves around how they build the clinic, meet and interact with the locals, get acquainted with Peruvian wildlife, food, customs. I don't think the stories get in the way of the math exercises; in fact, some of the stories require math concepts (size of the clinic, number of beds needed, etc.). Our daughter likes the fact that the stories provide a break of sorts.
Is this math considered a very easy math for children that cant learn?
Kristine M on Aug 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: First, there are very few children who can't learn ๐Ÿ™‚. If your question is about a struggling learner, then I think the answer is, "No", however I'm sure it would depend on the particular struggle. My dd used this last year and scored in the 99th percentile at the end of the year. If you specify a difficulty, perhaps someone else can chime in.
I just need to know if this book has religious content? I want this series regardless but I need the information.

BEST ANSWER: The beginning of each lesson is a continuing story of a Christian family and their missionary work in Peru. The family of five are all traveling to Peru to help at an orphanage. They talk about praying, bible studies, God, and Jesus. So to answer your question...Yes.
