Perfect compliment
These maps are so wonderful to have on hand as we read through the Holling C. Holling books. Very good quality and a perfect component to our geography studies.

Not used
The maps were larger than i had anticipated and I have not used them in conjunction with Paddle To the Sea so it was an unnecessary purchase for me. I found other activities online that went with the book which we have used instead.

Great maps!
This has turned out to be my daughters favorite part of the study! The maps are big on a quality paper and has been a really enjoyable part or the program. They recommend pencils but the paper is thick enough to use markers. We are in the first book on the first map, but we have used the Holling book and an atlas to color them in. Very nice!

We did this series with my older kids several years ago. Now it is time for the younger kids to enjoy these. The books are great alone but the maps bring it alive.

We love the Holling books! When we read Paddle to the Sea, I spent time finding maps for us to use to mark the journey. We plan on reading all of them, and I am happy to have the convenience of having the maps ready when we begin!

We use these maps for the Beautiful Feet Geography curriculum. Its a great US geography study and you can make it as easy or difficult as you like, adding more detail to your maps or going into more research in areas of history or science.

This is the third time I'm using these maps in our homeschool! I love them and the kids enjoy making their own large maps to go along with our study of geography using Beautiful Feet's geography study, complemented by chapters from Ann Voskamp's study, and lots of living books and puzzles and games. These maps are nice, sturdy, and very large.

My son attends school at our church now, but I want to use these maps with the Holling C. Holling book with him so that we still have time to connect over lovely books.
Beth H on Aug 8, 2016
I had the Beautiful Feet Geography Guide already. This map set really makes it more fun and educational. It's so much better to have a big map the child can unroll and have plenty of room to mark and label things.

BEST ANSWER: So far we've only done the Paddle to the Sea portion, but I think this would work fine with younger kids. You can use the guide more as suggestions that you can pick and choose from for each lesson, which cover 2-3 chapters of the book at a time. I would say you would need a lot of parental involvement to help with the maps and supplemental research topics (for Paddle to the Sea, the first two lessons have you research Canadian geese, ponds, and ballast), and also prepare ahead of time so you know exactly what you're meant to do with the maps (or to decide which parts your kids would understand and enjoy). Also consider spreading each lesson over a couple days. There is plenty for younger kids to enjoy; you might want to just have fun the first time through, and in a few years, go back to it more in-depth, with the kids working more independently. (You can buy the maps separately.) My 5th grader was able to do most of it on his own, and was really thrilled to have 'his own maps'.
