Perfect science for a student who doesn't plan on entering a science field or as a supplement for a science major. All of my younger children gather around when they see their big brother put this video in!

Awesome Program!!
Having DVDs for my son to work with is such a great help. The outline for hours etc are so much better than just using text books. I wish I had known about this site sooner!

I really like the way this DVD can be used for almost any age. All of my kids watch the DVD and then my oldest does the work.

We are loving this!
This set of DVDs has a companion workbook that is printable right from one of the disks. This resource digs even deeper into what is said on the videos. It references the Bible and helps students to understand why we can look to the Bible for answers to scientific questions. You will find quizzes to gauge students' learning. There are also lesson plans that lay out in detail how to turn this program into an accredited class. The ideas are great and my children are learning a lot. I would love to try other titles in this series!

Great Creation-Based Biology
We were excited to have found this creation-based Biology course for our teenagers. Neither will be going into a science career, so we feel this gives them the perfect, basic information they will need in life.

This is the best Biology course I have found! I have children ranging from adult down to K-5 I have used many Biology courses for the older ones throughout the years and I feel this one is the best one I have come across The DVD holds the youngest's attention and clearly explains things in a way that is understandable with a complete Biblical foundation The printable pages for keeping track of work makes this a full credit of Biology with a keepsake of work completed for your High School student's portfolio Plus the benefit for the younger student is laying a groundwork for when they actually "do" the work involved with this program in later years Five Stars!!!!

I am a mom of eight children ranging from 6yrs to 16yrs We got this Biology program and absolutely loved it I was looking for more auditory material for my daughter who struggles with dyslexia It was simple to use gave us a fun well rounded view of Biology and was easily adaptable to all ages I thought my high school students were challenged while the whole family was drawn into learning There is some teacher preparation but once the guide book and accreditation pages had been printed I thought the preparation was minimal I thought it added enough structure for families that like to have a solid plan and plenty of flexibility for those who enjoy pausing to study something of interest for several weeks Each child was able to participate in delight directed learning when we went to the library for our supplemental material I thought Biology 101 did an excellent job catering to each child's learning style I never had a single groan when it came time to do Biology It was worth the expense and then some Loved it!

We really appreciated this Biology course My son has Aspergers and is not good at Science Labs were not even an option but with the additional accreditation booklet I chose what was important and workable for him Multiple-learning styles are good for learning disabilities So watching the DVD reading the guidebook writing short essays and doing other hands-on activities provided the variety that was needed The DVD segments were well done and Mr Olson kept our attention This is an excellent course and can be used alone with the resources provided or as a supplement to other curriculums

I borrowed a couple of dvd's from this series from a friend. It's a very well done series. The presenter is engaging, intelligent, clear, and organized. No silly jokes just for the heck of it, no wild and loud graphics or sound effects that become outdated quickly, just thoughtful, correct, and straight forward facts presented in a logical, and calm manner. The presenter doesn't talk down to his middle grade audience.

I chose Biology 101 for my non-math-loving daughter because she thoroughly enjoyed completing Physics 101 and Chemistry 101. She has expressed a desire to finish the series for her high school science credits.

I like how the 'teacher' is out side for the lesson that I looked at, my friend has this, it seems hands on while being visual. I haven't used it, so I can't give much.

Solid reviews. Compelling alternative to many different curriculums out there. Hoping it might spark additional interest for a kid who's admittedly not into science.

How many days a week did your student work on the Biology 101 course? Thanks!
A shopper on Jul 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The printable guidebook has assignments laid out for a week at a time. It breaks down the amount of time they think a student would spend on each part of the lesson. I always just assigned the week and let my son decide when he wanted to complete it so he gains more experience in planning. Hint-I did check middle of the week to be sure he was making progress and that he had everything he needed for the experiments, activities, and extra reading.
What sort of activities are suggested in the CAP on disk 4? Any writing, additional reading, research, etc?
A shopper on May 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The student materials have a chapter to read, then a course outline to follow. Some research from library, write a paper, some hands-on labs, and suggestions for further study. You have to do your own research on the topics, but this hasn’t been a problem for us. Between the library, YouTube, and Google, we have found plenty to add to the research areas.

This curriculum is very interesting. If you want an intense biology, you may want to choose apologia or another. This one is more of a good covering of the systems for the general student who wants something interesting, but may not want all the detail of a more intensive course.

It’s worked well for our three boys, who aren’t terribly science-inclined, but who enjoy learning about just about everything!
How strong is the young-Earth content in the videos? Is it just an affirmation of creation and organizing the material according to its days? Or is there a more rigorous apologetic of young-Earth arguments? We are Creationists, but universe-age-neutral, and are looking for compatible resources. We would be using the videos only, not the printable material.
A shopper on May 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This is not a rigorous program in general. There is young earth content but it does not have rigorous apologetic arguments for the young age of the earth. It focuses on creation and God as our creator. We have used Apologia science textbooks as well and they definitely have rigorous young earth arguments. I hope that helps put things in perspective.
How long is a daily lesson?
A shopper on Aug 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The lessons are quite short. This is the first science curriculum my son actually enjoyed...loved it actually. I never really timed how long it took him since he is very independent. The average DVD lesson is between 20 and 45 minutes, but they do not watch the video every day just at the beginning of a topic. There is a pdf file workbook on the dvds with quizzes and then an add on booklet to make the curriculum accredited for high school. There is a lesson plan already printed in with the workbook that gives day by day lessons.
Does this course offer any hands-on experiments? Dissections and microscope use?
A shopper on Jun 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I believe that was all lecture. What I did was arrange a group of students to do dissections all last summer. So we did those (I buy the kits from Carolina Science Company) and that was a good lead in to the course for fall. Also, I bought him Anatomy Coloring books from here. They are "adult/college" level coloring pages of cells, etc., to help cement things and do it more in a low stress way. My son has a hard time carrying a full load due to a previous illness, so I try to spread things out and make allowances.
Do I need to also buy a workbook with the disks?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There is no workbook. On the last DVD is a printable "Course Accreditation Program" that lists activities you can do to make it a full Biology course. We are finding that we have to add some activities from outside sources to feel like we are really spending enough time on Biology.
