Teach Them Spanish Grade 1 - review
I am using this book to teach kids beginner Spanish. I wish that the cards at the back of the book that you can make into flashcards would be one sided. The have made them double sided, meaning that you have pages intended for flashcards back to back. They are more intended for photocopying. Other than that, the book is well structured.

Will be teaching Elementary Spanish this academic year and needed a book to guide my lesson plans.

My 6 year old is about to complete the Kindergarten book and we've both really enjoyed it! She has actually started requesting that we do a little from it each day. :) Very fun, and informative workbooks.

As a first year, Dual Language teacher, this seems like a fun way to help teach Spanish vocabulary.

Is this Latin American Spanish or Castilian Spanish?
A shopper on Jun 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This book mainly contains basic vocabulary: nouns and greetings. A few questions are learned such as; How are you? (Como estas?) How old are you? (Cuantos anos tienes?) There are no other verb conjugations learned.

There is no pronunciation key included therefore, as the teacher, you are free to use either LA pronunciation or Castilian. the upper levels of the books introduce more vocabulary and verbs, but there isn't a lot of conjugating. And they don't introduce the vosotros form at all. I learned LA Spanish throughout high school, but studied abroad in Spain. I did just fine adjusting to the language differences.

The author writes: " Due to the variety among the many countries that speak Spanish, certain cultural groups may use different vocabulary, expressions, or even pronunciation of words. This book is not intended to be the (the is italicized) correct manual of Spanish. It is a tool with which to begin to teach children the language of rich and unique cultures."
I am going to teach 1st-4th grade Spanish. I am currently looking for a curriculum and I am interested in Teach them Spanish. Do I buy one book and photocopy pages I need or do all of the students need one work book?
Christina W on Aug 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not a teacher but I think You could copy the pages for your students. The books are pretty affordable though and you could pass the cost along to the families and save yourself some time and trouble.
