I was aware that the spaces were not overly large in this work book, but with a struggling reader/writer I needed something that prevented his writing skills from holding him back in math. The spacing is exactly the same as in the textbook-spacing and formating. They've just printed it onto consumable worksheets. My son can answer most of the questions in the space-but his large handwriting makes it difficult. It is making it a little easier for us, as he doesn't need to recopy the question, but I would probably not purchase again unless they increase the working space-it's a little pointless otherwise.

I liked the workbook that came with this level, and I din't like the way regular saxon math k-3 is set up.

Bought to go with the Intermediate 3 book; found it was too hard to fit all the writing in the tiny spaces, though, so we use a notebook now. Will use this practice book for summer review.

I expect this power-up workbook to help my daughter to independently work through her math lesson.

How does Saxon 3 intermediate compare with regular Saxon 3?
A shopper on May 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Regular Saxon 3 follows the same format as Saxon K,1, and 2. It has the spiral bound scripted teacher manual and separate tear out worksheets that follow similar format from week to week. It is still strongly manipulative based. The Saxon Math Intermediate 3, however, is a student textbook. It is hardcover and written to the student. Manipulatives are used occasionally but not as much as the regular. You can purchase an optional workbook. It is just a copy of the written practice. The only advantage here is to help students who may incorrectly write down a problem when transferring from textbook to notebook paper. The content is similar in both the regular and intermediate method, although not identical. By the end of the year, your child will have learned the same thing using either method. It is also important to note that the intermediate book has 20 questions every lesson. Depending on if you use the back of the worksheet, the regular method doesn’t have as many problems. I hope this helps.
Are these the same problems that are in the text book?
A shopper on Nov 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they are the same problems that are found in the actual text book. In addition to the written practice, the text book also has the power up section and new concept for each lesson.
