Saxon 1 Meeting Book
Me and my children are really getting a grasp on math thanks to Saxon Math Curriculum. I've read many a review that complain about the redundancy of the worksheets, but I have my older child do one worksheet earlier in the day and the other one later. If you see your child is having no difficulty grasping a concept, then he or she may not need to do both worksheets. Up to you!

This review is for the Meeting book (look elsewhere for my review of the workbooks): The Math 1 meeting book was for us a waste of money Even at only $10 I'm really good at math so I didn't buy the teacher's edition and there was nothing to explain certain portions of the meeting book Beyond that it's just a calendar where you can record the weather Instead I put a nice-to-look-at calendar at kid level and let them record the weather there The only other thing in it is the names of the geometric shapes but we have a nice set of pattern blocks already so that was pointless To sum it all up the Meeting Book is probably very helpful if you are using the kit but it isn't if you are really pinching your pennies

I love the daily practice of the days of the week, months of the year, and patterns. I also like that it provides a place to keep lists of numbers that the kids are working on.

Well developed program that is cyclical in nature, constantly reviewing concepts already learned throughout the whole year. It does require more input from the parent/teacher, but is a much more thorough program. We have 6 children and have been using it for years. We are both engineers and feel it prepares them best for a STEM future.

Ximena M on Aug 31, 2016
The meeting book is a good addition to have. Provides a few activities that go along with the lessons. Have used Saxon for years with all of my children and and it gives them the foundation they need for higher Math. Minimal to no prep for parents, and prepares the students to be able to work independently.
