Amazing! I was so ashamed of myself for buying a "canned curriculum " so let me just say first - DON'T BE ASHAMED! Your kids will love learning with this book The Nursery Rhyme edition is jam-packed with activities that I am using and/or adapting for 2 kids ages 3 and 6 along with whatever friends happen to be here when we do them The kids are proud to memorize nursery rhymes and gain valuable practice reciting them with the puppets and other cute accessories they make There are a few cute early-math activities (like counting eggs) but it's not really a total curriculumWe are covering one rhyme every week or so depending on what else is going on I'm looking forward to using History Pockets and Literature Pockets in our Grade One studies over the coming year My only "criticism" might be that the pockets are very large making the complete book rather awkward to hold store and carry around Still it's wonderful having everything self-contained with ZERO prepwork and the kids really do love this resource

I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I am with the Nursery Rhyme Literature Pockets My daughters (aged 6 and 4) wake-up in the morning asking to make a new "book" They LOVE creating their pockets and adding the finished activities to each one In fact - they couldn't wait to show their books to other family members What I like is that each nursery rhyme encompasses various learning styles including auditory (listening to the rhyme); verbal (retailing the rhyme with props); kinesthetic (making crafts to go with the rhyme); and visual (putting the story in order) My younger daughter does not enjoying coloring each of the pages - so we paint them (with the Do-A-Dots) or leave them blank - after all it is the concept that matters! Both girls have tried rhyming words throughout the day and enjoy making up their own fairy tales (which can get pretty entertaining) I purchased this book as a fun activity and review for the upcoming school year - however you could use it anytime of the year - especially if you are homeschooling pre-K and Kindergarten children! The book contains reproducibles so you have to make copies of the pages in order to create the "pockets" I really didn't mind doing this because I thought the book itself was fairly inexpensive If you are looking for a fun and creative way to get your children excited about reading - this is the book for you! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
