Finally!
After trying four different approaches/programs over the last few years I think we've finally found the right fit for our family with this!
For my youngest (level 1 and now 2) I read the lesson and we walk through it together, my three readers are able to do the lessons mostly on their own. (Levels 2, 3 and 4).
Level 4 has an improved answer key that is much more teacher friendly (and therefore very appreciated!) I hope they transition all of the volumes to this format.

Wonderful Math Book
My daughter thanked me for getting her this math book. She tells me daily how much she enjoys it. So much so that she is actually doing more per day than is on the handy schedule in the front of the book. She looks forward to doing math instead of dreading it like last year. I like that it follows one family and that you care about the characters in the story so you look forward to each new lesson. Also, it reinforces what you learn in previous chapters.

We just finished the level before and loved it! It is the perfect mix of self guidance/entertainment/kinesthetic/ AMAZING math! My kids never complained about math and it moved them methodically through the standards easily. I will say, I don't like it until level 3. Before then it was just too much writing for little kids.

Excited to try this out with my right-brain, whole-to-parts learner. Mastery based. Looks like a very good fit for right brain learners.

I want to try this with my oldest daughter because she is very story oriented and I am trying to get her to be more independent in her studies.

I really liked the layout, ease, and clarity of book 2, and only had to supplement a bit. Therefore I had to buy 3, 4, 5! Let's hope we love them all the same! :)

How long does a lesson take each day? Can i do a longer lesson once a week and just guide them through some practice the rest of the week?

BEST ANSWER: It's been awhile so my memory might not be 100% accurate but from what I recall the book is divided into 36 "lessons". Each lesson is divided into 5 days - so 1 lesson per week. Day 1 has a story to go along with the lesson so it might be 2/3 minutes longer than the other days - but I'd say on average you could do each days work in 10-20 minutes depending on how in depth you want to go and on how easily the child picks up the material (also depending on what it is - some concepts might require more teaching than others). You could certainly do more than 1 days worth on one day a week and then do less on the other days if you wanted to.
