So happy with this!
We love this series. My children will actually sit on the couch and read the guide books in their spare time. We love the challenge, the variety of problems, and the joy of the mathematics as it's presented. I am a former math teacher and math major, so this is rigorous and delightful. I am using grade "3" for my third and fifth is much harder than normal curriculum. Some of the problems are even a little challenge for me and my engineer husband...they really teach you to think.

Too Confusing
My 10 year old finds the practice problems very frustrating, and when I help him I get annoyed with it as well. Instead of just reinforcing the concepts that were introduced, it has brain teasers and logic puzzles that don't relate to the concepts. Some of them we haven't been able to figure out at all, even with help from friends who are math teachers! I've started skipping those problems because they don't really matter, but it when each lesson contains several pages like this I feel like I've wasted money on the book.

Wow My 9 year old BEGS to do math
Let's face it, math can be a struggle. Even students who are good in math often drag their feet when it's time to pull out the math books. But not with Beast Academy! After 1 week of Beast Academy Math my 9 year old son brought me his book and begged to do math on SATURDAY! He and his sister are thrilled with this unique curricula and dislike when math time is over. THANK YOU BEAST ACADEMY!

Such a fun way to learn math!
My daughter carries this book around the house, to the car, inside stores, etc... She LOVES doing it, and spends at least an hour most days reading, re-reading, erasing answers so she can re-work the problems, printing additional sheets from the website (games!), and loves working on this with adults as well. (Most of whom are most impressed with this curriculum!) I'm so glad we've finally landed on an engaging, exciting, fun, and challenging maths curriculum. After a week of working in 3A, we ordered the rest of the third grade set!

All Beast Academy books are aligned to the 2010 national Common Core State Standards for Mathematics If this is not a problem for you then it will be a good resource I will personally not use anything that is purposefully aligned with Common Core

We love Beast Academy! Written in an easy-to-use comic style format these math books are wonderfully accessible! The practice guide gives students a chance to strengthen and expand their skills with mathematical concepts in a fun way For parents and teachers the practice book is cross-referenced with the Guide to make for easy movement between the guides These books are best for students who are already or are working on becoming self-directed learners

A fellow homeschooling mom owns Beast Academy and, after looking through her books, I decided to give it a try. I hope it will help make math fun while also developing a deeper understanding. I plan to use it as a supplement to our regular program (Math Mammoth).

I've heard this is an excellent series perfect for math "achievers," and wanted to give my (bored) third grade daughter something colorful and silly (to pique her interest) as well as meaty. We need a challenge, and this looks to be what we're looking for.
Emmy F on Mar 18, 2017
Definitely not your average 3rd grade math book! Some of the concepts are very challenging, with a tendency towards mental math instead of writing everything down on paper. I'd recommend this for a math-y child, perhaps in 4th grade.

Want to try this with my son who's adept at math and not liking the current program we're in
Sandra C on May 16, 2016
Trying this for the first time to supplement my boys who are zooming through Singapore SE. I think it will give them another perspective and give them more challenge when they "puzzle" out the answers. I am also planning on using Art of Problem Solving after Singapore and I think this will prepare them to think in the same way.

Our youngest son is bored with Saxon; looking for something a bit more challenging.

My kids love the comic book style math books from this program. The exercises in these student books are challenging - even for me as the parent! We enjoy working through them together as a fun challenge and a way to practice math concepts. This has been a fun add-on to our math program this year.
