Sweet Beginner Readers
Found a review of these on Simply Charlotte Mason. Very pleased with them. My 5-year-old likes the stories of the kids and is excited she can read them all by herself.

We love this book! I'm so glad I made the decision to purchase these. My little guy does not enjoy reading, and this book gave him the confidence he needed to see that he is a good reader. The stories in this book are interesting enough to make him want to keep reading. I highly recommend these books.

Excellent!
Our youngest son, struggling to learn to read like his older siblings, loved, loved, loved this book! He soared right through it and was excited to begin the next level.

I just love this program. We used it with my first 2 in K but it was a little hard for them. My third is flying through it. We use Bob books with this reader because this has a lot of sight words and I want him to practice a few mom Cvc words. However, I love the simple stories and price of this. Have used Pathway Readers for K-4th. Love it!

I bought the Pathway Readers First Steps for my boys They really enjoy the stories They love reading and have become very good readers I found the program easy to use Just open the book and go There is no prep time Which is something that is very important to me The cost of the books are very low but they are very valuable to my family The books have already became a treasure in my household and I am sure it will quickly become a favorite in many other homes

I ordered the First Steps Preprimer for my daughter She just turned 5 and will be starting kindergarten officially in a couple of months but she did the first half of a different phonics / reading program during her preschool year In that program she was reading only cvc words with short vowels and some sight words I expected this reader to be something I could start her in as additional practice when she finished the second half of that program so I was pleasantly surprised tonight when the box came and she chose this book as her story to read to me at bedtime (We each read a book to one another) Generally she reads the readers she already did in her reading program They are fine but the stories don't teach her anything outside of the phonics practice I loved how with the First Steps Preprimer there was a section for me to read to her that set up the story and then her section completing the story I told her I read the small words she reads the big (font size) ones and she was delighted By the end of the first story she was easily reading "come" and "see" both new words to her and ones that don't follow the rules she's already learned because of how often they were repeated and she wanted to read it again to her dad She also learned a bit about livestock auctions These books remind me a great deal of Dick and Jane which we also have reprints of but with more depth I predict we will buy the rest of this series in the near future!

After homeschooling for 16 years I have finally found an elementary language arts program that I love The readers are sweet stories the workbooks that go along with them cover phonics grammar spelling rules and reading comprehension (not to mention moral values and discerning right from wrong) Everything is in sync With other independent programs the spelling was teaching one set of rules and the phonics another and the readers yet other wordsit was frustrating because after pages of work I felt like they had learned nothing But the lights go on with these workbooks the children are engaged in the stories and real learning is taking place Save yourself time and money this is hands down the best complete language arts program for the money

I bought these for my 5 year old to practice reading He is finishing a phonics program and uses Pathway to enhance what he is learning in phonics We have about 2 chapters left! He loves them and loves to show all his siblings how he can read! I really like them and think they are very helpful for beginning readers This is truly one of my favorite homeschool purchases! I do not have the workbooks as I was simply looking for some wholesome intelligent readers and these are exactly what I was looking for They do not talk down to your child!

We love the Pathways Readers They are morally sound well planned and interesting My older children polished their reading through fifth grade with this series and my youngest child is enjoying her foray into "real chapter books" She is beginning to read fluently and is excited! These stories leave lots of room for critical thinking and discussion as much is left unsaid and the illustrations are not overwhelming My daughter has become quite good at using inference to flesh out the stories and to anticipate the character's reactions

My daughter loves this book The words in the story are repeated many times which puts it at her level and it reinforces learning new words Yet the stories are still interesting which is really important with my daughter's learning style She really enjoys the stories about a big family on a farm I have had a struggle teaching her to read and was surprised to see her take this book with her in the car to read on her own! I highly recommended it

I've been told that this book works great with a Charlotte Mason type curriculum, so I thought I would give these books a go.

Wanted a book without excessive colors or images in order to help with focusing on the goal of learning to read. I've read it's what the Amish use in their schools so I know that the story lines are family based and classic settings nothing new with technology added.

I chose this book to use in my first grade class because it has wonderful stories, more reading with less pictures and it's hardback!

I was looking for "read books" that my son could read that would support the phonics lessons he is doing. We love simple black and white stories about every day life that support good morals and behaviour.

I was looking for an alternative to the McGuffy readers, since they were a bit bland. My kindergartner learned to read with this First Steps book!

This reader is wonderful for my children to have an ongoing story with short chapters and a slowly-building vocabulary.

Pathway Readers were recommended to me by veteran homeschooling mamas. Also the farm/ranch lifestyle appeals to my kids as it matches theirs!

I homeschooled my children many years ago and taught them to read with this wonderful series. I am looking at becoming a Grandmother one day and realized I had somehow lost several of the books during moves. I wanted to replace them before I had grandchildren.

does all of this curriculum contain sectarian content?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, this series does not contain sectarian content. These are lovely books about, family, wisdom, kindness, honor, working hard and many other character traits I want my children to have.
