Product Description:
English: Readers study sentence structure, diagramming subjects and predicates, helping verbs and verb phrases and irregular verbs. Nouns as subjects, direct objects and predicate nominatives are studied. Seventh grade students also study proper, possessive, and predicate adjectives and prepositions, interjections, and conjunctions and how to use them properly in sentence structure. Students learn to use colons, semicolons, apostrophes, quotation marks, parentheses, dashes and hyphens effectively in sentences. They read a chosen novel, write a daily journal as they read the novel and complete a final review of the novel. They complete this process several times throughout the year with different types of literary works: novels, short stories and poetry. Spelling, vocabulary and grammar skills are strengthened.
Math: PRE-ALGEBRA: Seventh grade students study integers and word problems with addition/subtraction/multiplication/division (701); fractions (addition, subtraction, improper fractions, mixed numbers and the order of operations in fractions) (702); prime numbers, factorization, properties, comparing fractions/decimals/percent (703); rounding, estimation and order of operations (704); consumer math (sales tax, discounts, profit, interest and more) (705); exponents, scientific notation and radicals (706); expressions, equations and inequalities (707); units of measurement, unit conversion, rates and distance (708); polygons, perimeter, area, surface area and volume (709); graphing (coordinate, simple figures, linear functions), slope, angles, polygons, symmetry and congruency (710); planes, lines, points, exponential growth, unit conversions (711); statistics (basics, scatter plots, quartiles, box-and-whisker plots) (712). There are two keys: one for 701-707 and one for 708-712 and tests.
Science: The text material introduces scientific equipment, how to conduct an experiment, and how to be safe in the lab. Students learn to classify the plant and animal kingdom and to identify life. Students learn cell structure and cell parts and the different jobs of the cell. They study the human body and how it works including the skeletal system, the heart, the respiratory system, the nervous system and the anatomy of the eye. Asexual and sexual reproduction is studied. Students study genetics, cloning, the theory of evolution and the origin of life. Through topic and project research a sample project is created and presented. Students are encouraged to be inquisitive and analytical. A lifelong interest in science is built with field trips and real-world experiences. Social Studies: The text covers the Roman Empire including its geographic borders, social woes, religion and philosophy, as well as the crisis in Roman leadership and the military. Additional material regarding the eastern orthodox civilization and church/state relations are presented. Discoveries that changed China and Japan are studied as well as Mexico, Central America, and the rise of the Mayan Empire. Students are also introduced to Christian missionaries, Catholic and Protestant European regions, and the roots of the scientific revolution including Jewish, Christian and Muslim science. The Enlightenment period and Magna Carta are also introduced. Maps, timelines and bibliographies are incorporated into reports enabling students to outline and evaluate what they have learned. ~Sara

We grouped the Starline subjects into grade level bundles for our parents who need a clear and tidy option for independent homeschooling content. They do not have religious content and are purchasable by a charter school. Each Starline subject includes 10-12 consumable worktexts and an answer key, with units averaging 24-60 pages each. We grouped the 4 core subjects by grade level for you in these bundles – English, Math, Science and Social Studies. Each bundle is for one traditional school year. Starline is a popular choice in California where they meet state standards. Each high school course in these bundles is commonly awarded one high school credit. Grades 11 and 12 have too many electives to choose from to create a suitable bundle. You can search “Starline 11” and “Starline 12” to see those options. ~Sara
We have received many customer requests for Starline Press Curriculum and after taking time to review it is easy to see why! Self-directed with character quality traits infused, this independent learning curriculum allows students to learn at their own pace (which may vary subject to subject) while maintaining alignment to California state standards. Please see publisher website for CA state standards correlation. Both objective and subjective assessment methods are used to ensure mastery of material. Challenging activities are included in each unit to help develop critical thinking skills. Each subject area is complete and easy to use. Each grade level subject contains 10-12 units (booklets) per year, with units averaging 24-60 pgs each.
Consumable worktexts are colorfully illustrated soft covers, although newer printings are more like booklets and do not have the perfect binding and glossy covers. Available only in complete sets which include answer and test keys.
