I purchased this curriculum to teach a middle school/high school language arts co-op class I was not pleased with it It gives you the root word and its meaning and 3 or 4 examples of words with this root in it However it does not give the meaning of the other part of the word or the meaning of the 2 put together For example the word circum means around and it gives circumlocution circumnavigate circumscribe circumspect as examples But it does not tell me what the other part of the word means or what the 2 parts mean together It felt like 1/2 of the curriculum was missing So I purchased English From the Roots Up and am much happier with it It tells me the root word gives the meaning gives 8-9 examples of words with that root gives a definition of the other part of the word then the meaning of the two put together Now my students can use the parts and see how it goes together to see the whole pictureI hope this review helps someone Before I purchased this curriculum I could not find any reviews that helped me know whether or not I should buy it Which turned out to be a waste of money for me

I purchased this mainly for use with my 5 year old son I didn't find any similar program suitable for his age I do not use the program exactly as instructed due to time limitations I go over the meaning of the root or prefix as shown in the book I then define it and put it in a sentence for him to understand it better I do 2-4 words a week this way I know this program works because he used the word "absurd" in the appropriate context the other day! As it can be used for multiple children for many years the cost is well worth it!

My oldest daughter is learning Latin. I thought this would be a fun way to reinforce the language!
