Publisher's Description of Playing with Plays Presents: Shakespeare's Julius Caesar for Kids

Julius Caesar like you have never read it before: quick, fun, and easy to understand. Designed for 5-17+ actors, kids of all ages, or anyone who wants to enjoy and loosely understand Shakespeare's play.

What you will get:

  • Fun!
  • 3 melodramatic modifications for group sizes:
    • 5-9+
    • 8-12+
    • 12-17+
  • Actual lines from Shakespeare's play mixed in
  • Creatively funny interpretations of the remaining script
  • A delightfully funny rendition that is easy for ADULTS to understand too!
  • A kid who loves Shakespeare!

This mini-melodramatic masterpiece is sure to be a doorway for your child to love all the classics. Shakespeare is difficult enough in class or watching on stage, let alone trying to teach the stories to children, but as the author's mantra states in the book, "there is no better way to learn than to have fun!" Kids who have read this have also eventually purchased Shakespeare's entire works and have completed 'hero' reports on Shakespeare at school. Guaranteed to have you coming back for more!

Category Description for Playing With Plays Presents

Do you want to incorporate a little drama into your homeschool or homeschool co-op? This fun little series is designed to "do" plays. Easy to read and to understand, the series targets schools and afterschools but would be very adaptable for homeschools and co-ops. The actual presentations of each play or book are short; usually 10 15 minutes. They are written in three different versions, each for an increasing group size (6-9; 9-12; and 12-17+). The text is colloquial, in general, but incorporates actual quotations from the play or book. These are highlighted and the "actors" are encouraged to speak those lines precisely but to use their own wording otherwise if desired. After all, "all the world's a stage." 80 pgs, pb. ~ Janice
