The Christian Liberty Nature Reader series has been a favorite of kindergarten through fifth grade students for years. This six-volume set covers topics that fascinate young minds and create a desire to read. Beginning with an alphabet of stories about animals, the series progresses through insects, spiders, birds, shellfish, turtles, and more, finally ending with a study of marine animals. Most important is the common theme that everything is a part of Gods wonderful creation.

Each volume of the series progresses in reading level to provide enjoyment for years. Answer keys to the review questions (especially useful for those who want to check for reading comprehension) are also available.

Kids love to read about animals and nature, and Christian Liberty Press offers six readers chock-full of interesting stories and appealing illustrations. Book K introduces an animal for each of the 26 letters of the alphabet, and includes a story on each one of them. Book 1 focuses on Creation and reinforces phonics principles. Book 2 emphasizes small creatures and lessons from nature. Books 3 and 4 discuss the daily routine and other aspects of animal life. Book 5 has been completely rewritten and teaches about the earths hydrosphere and the multitude of creatures that live in the ocean. Review questions are provided at the end of each chapter or section. Answer keys are available for Books 1-5. These contain detailed answers to the review questions found in the student text.

Teach reading skills using this God-honoring program filled with enriching and interesting reading material. Throughout this series, students read children- and history-oriented stories. Grade K emphasizes phonics instruction (2 books of single-syllable, short vowel, words; 2 books use multi-syllable words, long-vowel sounds). Grade 1 reinforces and applies these phonics skills. Grade 2 assumes students have a good grasp of phonics, so the series then shifts to progressively more challenging vocabulary and reading and emphasizes reading comprehension. Grade 3 stories span a broad history, including ancient and Bible. Grades 4-5 emphasize American history readings. Grade 6 highlights abridged and revised selections from classic authors. Some levels require Teachers' Manuals, student activities, and tests.

We have Reader 1 and we have loved it! The short yet informative stories have been a delightful way to point my children to God as a good and wonderful creator AND we are learning tidbits of science, along with simple and yet deep questions about animals and their place in creation. We decided to just get the whole set since it seems to be a newer cover/edition and it was a better deal then buying them individually. Rainbow Resource also seems to have the best prices for these readers.

What are the publishing dates of the Christian Liberty Nature Readers?

BEST ANSWER: These are the third edition of these Readers and they were published in 2019.
Are the answer keys included?

BEST ANSWER: The answer keys are not included in the six volume set I purchased, but there appears to be another “Complete Set” on Liberty Christian website that does include the answer keys.

I highly recommend these readers. I don't think the average reader could read these at the K/1st levels listed. However, they work amazing as read alouds/shared reading at those levels. The interest in the topic is high. My 6 and 8 year old boys are loving them. I even have to remind my big kids to do their math because they always stop to listen!

Wonderful Addition to a Charlotte Mason style Education
I saw these and was drawn to the fact that they are readers about nature and written at various levels of readability. My girls were so excited when these showed up and have been begging to start reading them...especially my kindergartner. I love how these can be tied into a Charlotte Mason home education approach. Can be read while studying the various animals or insects in Science, or while observing in a natural habitat. Can be used for art by drawing the days reading assignment. A big plus is that one can use the questions at the back to springboard your child's narrations back. I bought these without the workbooks as I felt that would deter from the enjoyment of reading the chapters.
