The Teacher's Manual contains the actual lesson plans and information vital to the effective presentation of math concepts. The consumable Meeting Books are used during the teacher-student "meeting" in which concepts are introduced, demonstrated and practiced. If teaching more than one student at the same level, you will only need one meeting book. Consumable Student Workbooks are used in grades 1-3 only and contain student materials, flash cards and practice pages. The Math K Home Study Kit contains teacher edition and meeting book. Math 1, 2, and 3 kits contain teacher edition, meeting book, and a set of 2 workbooks. Manipulatives are a vital, integral part of the program; these are not included in the Home Study Kits, but are available through us also.

Saxon math manipulatives
My daughter loves the manipulatives. It gives her ownership over her math. If you’re using this curriculum, I highly recommend using the manipulative kit.

Fun, fun, fun
We do Saxon Math, and I would never suggest doing it without these manipulatives. I've heard some people say you don't need them, but you can't effectively teach the concepts without them, and those poor little kids have to be so bored without their colorful little manipulatives. They are made with high quality materials. Even my kid can't break them. Once I received these manipulatives, I realized they are well worth the price. This is the basic kit for K-3 -nothing fancy, just the necessary items. My son is in Saxon Math 1, so we won't use some of the stuff for a year or two, but after calculating the prices, this is the best deal.

Manipulatives are GREAT! Shipping on them is not....
These manipulatives are a great addition to the Saxon math program. My kids and I love them. However, they are not shipped as a kit. Rather, they are shipped when the individual items are in stock. I received most of the items together, and I've been shipped the additional items as they become available. It's been over a month and I still haven't received all of the items in the "kit" yet.
