I like the the idea of doing 1 period of hist during ea. of the 4 yrs of HS. This will allow a student to really get into & understand the time period. Because my 13yo 8th grdr has had very little hist, I needed something to mk sure she was up to speed.. This is 1 of 2 curr. that offer an overview of hist from creation-present in 1 yr. The other curriculum was $120+/- which was out of my budget & required other books. This Curr. is just 2 books; a fun historical fiction spine plus study guide.

I have a 7th grader who needs to look at the big picture of God's hand in history.

Is the Pages of History book necessary to complete this course? We have already read it and don't want to go through it again.
Shani L on Apr 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The Transition Guide uses the Pages of History as it's historical content foundation. The first session of each lesson is a reading from the Pages and comprehension questions. Assuming you have the book, it might not be necessary to re-read the portion but going through the comprehension questions will serve as a review and you can look up any sections you might need to review in order to answer the questions. Otherwise, you could conceivably just by-pass the first session and go on to the Cards, Literature and Discussion portions. Since you're familiar with the Pages, you should be able to recall the general content to some degree.
Do you have to have the history cards in order to use the History Transition Guide?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, in order to properly utilize the History Transition Guide, you will want the history cards. Many of the lessons and assignments refer to the cards and the content from the cards is not duplicated in the guide.
