Finally, a Greek text that's both simple and substantial! Designed to be used as a full course for teaching children as young as 3rd grade, Elementary Greek may also serve as a self-teaching program for teens and adults. Thirty weeks of daily lessons in the textbook insure a complete school year of brief, incremental lessons with no additional planning. The set also includes flashcards that cover every vocabulary word used in the text.

Category Description for Elementary Greek Koine for Beginners:

If you are looking for an easy-to-use program that teaches New Testament Greek in a straightforward and uncomplicated way that can be used with all ages (even students as young as 2nd grade), then your search is over. Elementary Greek is just that sort of program! Lessons are brief and incremental. Each concept is covered thoroughly with regular review. The teacher needs no previous knowledge of Greek and, in fact, both older students and adults can use the course as a self-teaching study. There is a basic simplicity in all the material, but don't be fooled! This course also provides substantial coverage of the language of the New Testament. Speaking of which, did you know that Koine Greek was the language of the common people not quite as precise as classical Greek and the language of business transactions and everyday activities? Interestingly, by comparison, material covered in Year 1 of Elementary Greek isn't covered until Level 3 of Hey, Andrew!

The format for each year's course is the same - 30 lessons divided into 5 days of lessons. Lessons include presentation and review of memory verses, new conjugations coupled with review, declensions and review, irregular verbs with review, and systematic vocabulary presentation and review. These lessons are written out in each Textbook; basically you pick up the book and off you go! The Workbook parallels the textbook providing space to write as the student progresses through the lessons. Daily work includes copying memory verses, writing words and translations, filling out conjugations along with review questions, fill-in-the-blank questions to reinforce lessons, review questions and practice, and review and translate from memory. Other course components include: Audio Pronunciation CDs, Flashcards, Test Books, and Answer Keys (Year 1 & 2 only). Each Year Set includes the text, workbook, CD, flashcards, tests, and answer keys (except Year 3).

Another great product from Memoria Press! It's logical, systematic, written to the student and easy to follow! It's so exciting to be able to understand some verses and vocabulary of the NT.

Our daughter wants to learn greek and we needed a set up curriculum with emphasis on Scripture. This curriculum received good reviews from other distributors but I have always bought our homeschool curriculum from Rainbow Resource, who offered it for less.

I want to learn Greek for Bible Study and believe this series can help me get a solid basic understanding of Greek. I think the addition of audio and flashcards will help immensely.

My son and I recently took an introduction to Greek class. It was extremely interesting. I like the way Memoria Press teaches languages (we used it for Latin) and I thought this would be a good choice to learn more.

I have a son who has been reading about Luther and other church fathers. They all talk about the importance of Greek, so he wants to learn it. He prefers a book type learning style over a computer style, so this seemed a good fit.

We're using this as a step between Greek Alphabet and either First Form Greek or ancient Greek from the Teaching Company.

My daughter enjoyed the Memoria Press Greek Alphabet and wanted to continue studying Greek.

I am an adult who wants to learn Greek; however, because I'm also homeschooling three children (who are currently learning Latin...then will move on to Greek), I don't have the time to devote to First Form. So I'm systematically (and slowly!) working through EG in order to get my feet wet!

Does this curriculum teach any prayers?
Cassandra on Jan 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi. I just bought this for my son to use this spring semester. I did look through it and it doesn't really teach prayers, but the vocabulary is all Biblical and there are short memory verses that they learn to read, write, and say in Greek. Hope that helps!

Fantastic for someone who wants to self teach
My 12-year-old and I would recommend this product. After only two lessons she can recognize all of the Greek letters and read the word phonetically in Greek.

I have found Elementary Greek Year 1 very easy to implement I used it with two of my sons in Grades 5 and 7 The boys were both able to work on the course independently after we had read through the textbook I was pleased with the amount of content covered The boys enjoyed the course and found the lessons to be a good length I will use this course with my other children and plan to go on to Elementary Greek Year 2 with the two who have completed Year 1

"Elementary Greek" is one of my all time favorite homeschool curriculum! It is one of the easiest-to-use curriculum products that I have used with my four children It requires no teacher preparation at all but systematically teaches New Testament Greek so that my 9 year old learned it easily (And so could her mom!)The set teaches to the different learning styles The cd provides the audio; flashcards provide visual learners a good reference; and the assignments vary from fill-in-the-blank to translation to crossword puzzles It is the most well-thought-out language program that we have used To use it with multiple ages just buy more than one student book and you are good to go! I did think that it helped that my daughter had two years of Latin before she started Greek as it made the types of declensions and conjugations more familiar before starting a language with such an unfamiliar alphabet However it is set up so that anyone can use it I highly recommend it!
