Category Description for Draw and Write Through History:

These fun and educational supplements will be a great diversion from boring textbooks and endless amounts of reading! Students will love putting some of their other talents into their history lessons, whether drawing the Trojan Horse, the black stallion of Alexander the Great, or a Viking ship. Each book is divided into several sections that cover many aspects of early history with a good mix of Biblical accounts and other historical events. Each section begins with a drawing of the time period or place, followed by detailed drawing instructions for all different aspects of the picture, and concluding with a page of information about the time period for students to copy to practice their penmanship. For example, in the Creation Through Jonah book, the section on Egypt starts with a colored page featuring a pyramid, mummy, and sphinx. The following pages have separate step-by-step drawing instructions (1-3 pages per drawing) for each of those items. The information about Egypt closes the section, written in cursive so students have a model to copy their handwriting after. Sprinkled with interesting facts and Bible verses, these books are sure to bring the ancient times to life. Approximately 60 pgs. ~ Megan

We love to integrate. It saves time and student effort. Integrating some history with handwriting and art sounds like a win!

My student can practice cursive by copying the models in the set, learn how to draw and learn history at the same time. By following the models in the set, student ends up with a beautiful notebook of work covered during the year. We did this with the Draw Write Now series and it worked GREAT. Doing the same thing with this set.

Great history supplement.

I am beginning to homeschool my boys in the Fall. They both love to draw. I think this will be perfect to supplement our History Program. We are using Level 1 History The Good and The Beautiful.

Was Draw and Write Through History enough as a stand alone curriculum? If so, for which grades? If not, with which curriculum did you use this supplement?
Amber on Jun 16, 2022
BEST ANSWER: This is definitely NOT a stand alone curriculum but rather a supplement. Each book contains the following segments: multiple "how to" sections explaining how to replicate a particular drawing related to the period of history covered by the book, a passage of copywork related to the relevant period of history and very brief snippits of historical information related to the illustration and/or time period it relates to. This series is similar to the Draw Write Now series but the copywork is more appropriate for older children who can read and copy passages in cursive.

We like it a lot.
These books have different things to draw and a little bit of information about the time period. There is also copy work in cursive of different historical facts. This is not a work book.

Not bad,
Not a "complete set". Only contains 5 books, not all six. Very disappointed. 4 arrived, one was on backorder and hasn't come yet. Content of the books that came seem ok. Thought they'd cover a little more though.
