Eclectic Foundations Language Arts Level C Teacher's Guide
The Level C Teacher Guide provides 144 Lessons using McGuffey's Second Eclectic Reader (Revised). Phonics includes advanced phonics, syllabication, and troubling usages. Quotes and Scriptures are used for handwriting practice and memory work. Composition is introduced as part of grammar studies. Grammar instruction at this level is actually simpler than in Level B but more independent work is expected
This program is designed for advanced second grade or third grade. This year covers McGuffey's Second Reader. Word cards will be colored this year as well to collaborate with the parts of speech. Phonics continues with word lists from Word Mastery by Florence Akin. Every day has your child copying tidbits of wisdom from famous historical figures and philosophers of the past and the Bible. The first day of the week has a bible verse for copy work and memorization. Grammar lessons are somewhat simpler than the previous year, because your student is expected to work more independently this year. Grammar is based on Speaking and Writing Book One by William H. Maxwell. This little book is a gem. It not only gives a firm foundation in simple grammar concepts, but also teaches the art of speaking clearly and eloquently. Poetry is scattered throughout the program as well.
