Category Description for ARTistic Pursuits:

Once in a great while you will come across an art program that is so easy-to-use, open-ended, and brimming with all sorts of exciting possibilities that you just want to use it yourself. This was certainly the case with ARTistic Pursuits when I first reviewed it. The basic philosophy of ARTistic Pursuits is to combine what it defines as the four essential areas, or categories, of art into a short, easily manageable and flexible lesson. The first category is Elements of Art, or "what art is made of" which include what we would think of as the basics of the actual drawing (line, shape, color, etc.). The next is Composition, or "how art is arranged" (balance, proportion, space), third is Media (variation), and finally, History (becoming familiar with different artists, styles, and periods). This seems like a lot to cover in one program, but ARTistic Pursuits does it surprisingly well and very naturally. The early elementary (K-3) level covers these same four areas in each lesson, but in a less in-depth and more informal manner. The whole series has been revised for 2013, and each volume now features 36 lessons (previously 32). You'll notice a slight shift in grade levels (books previously

This is an excellent art curriculum and it is helpful to be able to buy the materials needed for the lessons in one art supply bundle.

I purchased this to accompany the curriculum. We are still in book 1, but are enjoying it so much that I'm planning ahead for book 2 later in the school year.

I chose this bundle so I know all the necessary tools for teaching art will be together and I don't have to individually find each one.

It is so easy to use this package of supplies rather than hunt out each item by myself. It also seems to be more economical. Thanks, Rainbow!

I'm planning on using this for 2 students; if i buy this art bundle what extra supplies will I need?
A shopper on Feb 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I recommend double for the wood boards (or use cardboard instead; it would work just fine). Double for the paint and the round paintbrush (the paint actually comes with a decent paintbrush though, so you could use that). You also need two oil pastels, for the black if no other reason. We never remembered to use the pencils it came with, but you might want two of those if you'll use them. You need 2 cans of the plaster, but only one plastic spreading tool.

You do not need doubles of anything for print making. My two students were fine sharing two sets of ink, the brayer, and the plates. I also did not buy extra of any of the paper. I did have to buy more watercolor paper halfway through the year though. My kids made extra art sometimes though, so you might get away with just one pack.
