Category Description for Key To Math (Gr. 4-12):

The Key To... series is a very self-instructional, unintimidating, programmed learning series. Covering seven basic topics, students can work through these horizontally or vertically. They are ideal for "homework" or a more topical approach to the subject. Presentation is done in a simple, friendly manner, incrementally, and with examples to follow as needed. Workbooks are thin and consumable. Answer keys are recommended. Order by the book or in sets.

We like this series because it encourages children to tackle these subject areas in as much depth as they can, rather than working strictly within the confines of an age-graded math program. Starting in 4th or 5th grade, I purchased a complete set of student workbooks for each child. Book 1 in each topic was put on the school book shelf. When Key to... was assigned, my children were free to work on whatever topic they chose, and they worked as much as they wanted. As soon as Book 1 in any subject was completed, it was replaced by Book 2. My oldest daughter sometimes got so involved that she just kept going!

These workbooks are EXCELLENT to help those children with difficulty in learning math. The books move slowly forward, one concept at a time. The pages have enough space to work most problems in the book, so problems do not have to be transferred onto another paper. That is monumental for some children. They do not count as a full Algebra course,

I have used this series for years and it is awesome. I already have the answer keys so I do not need a second set. If you do not already have the answer keys - then you want to order the complete set including the answer keys (not this set.)

As an engineer and math tutor I have to say I love this curriculum! It's simple, gets to the point, has a lot of practice of the concept that is being learning, and is a great way for kids to learn math well.

These workbooks are amazing. They show practical, real life applications to algebraic principles (i.e. gains/loses as they relate to integers). The workbooks simplify and focus on one algebra concept with a simple explanation and then there are 10 to 15 problems (maybe even more) that a student practices to get familiar and confident with the concept before moving on. At the end of each workbook, the student has to recap all the principles learned in one activity.

Used this program in the past with success with older son who did not like math, material is broken into small approachable booklets. Straight forward lessons with a review at the end to make sure material was understood.

Purchased as supplemental extra exercises when needed for the Teaching Textbook series, which is great but doesn't have any extra practice. The Key to Series was wonderful in previous grade level subjects.

We are choosing this curriculum again because it worked so well for our son. It is easy to use and schedule, and the student works at his or her own pace. It truly straightforward and easy to understand for the the very basics of algebra.

Simple, Effective Course
All of the Key To books are very well-written and organized. Each page is a simple, slight progression from the page before, so that the students learn so easily they can do it on their own. I have six children. All of them successfully used the Key To books. In fact, I purchased ALL the Key To books--fractions, decimals, percents, algebra, et cetera. They are just that good!! By the time my children had done all the Key To books, they found normal elementary and junior high textbooks to be a breeze. The Key To Algebra and Geometry books made high school math simple and understandable. When they tackled high school math textbooks, they were more than ready. Highly, highly recommend!!
