Description

Talking about and depicting war can be hard to present to elementary-aged students. In the Amazing World War II Stories: Four Incredible True Tales, 4 heroic incidents are depicted in an informative but not gruesome manner in this graphic novel. Little to no reference to bloody combat scenes is depicted within the fighting scenes. Content does, however, contain mature themes. One of the stories talk about a POW’s time in captivity, the bombing of countries, the wages of war on a person and a country. Dialogue includes direct quotes from individuals and documentation from the time. Each story is illustrated in a different style that helps break up the reading of this one text. Include this graphic novel as a reading option for World History when covering this time era. Pgs. 125 | pb ~Rebecca
